Checkin' out the view at home back in New Zealand... and with a better camera. ;-)

Christchurch Yacht Club sailers out on the estuary.

A cool view of the Southern Alps. There was no snow on them last time I was here.

Typical spring day on the island of the Long White Cloud.

On the first climb of the Short Bays ride, looking back over Christchurh, the Canterbury Plains and the Southern Alps.

Overlooking Lyttleton Harbour on the west side of the summit.

Climbing up Evans Pass - Lyttleton Harbour spills out into the south pacific ocean.

Dropping back down the east side of the summit into Sumner.

The long course pool at the QEII where I swim masters.

My masters coach, Roly.

Heading down to the start of the Pinchgut Hut trail.

Had to take our shoes off and cross this river to get on the Pinchgut Hut trail to start our run.

My Kiwi training buddy, Lisa, and I after our two-hour quad burner run on the Pinchgut Hut trail.

Saturday morning sailboat races in the estuary.

One of my favourite rides, to Little River, takes me past this old church.

From the summit of Hilltop, looking back over where I rode - the valley floor.

From the summit of Hilltop, looking over Akaroa Harbour.

Real live hedgehog in our backyard.

First climb up Port Levy. So steep I had to take a short break. An average 15% grade, and then some in the corners.

Steep looking back...

...steep looking forward.

Made it to the summit. Almost an hour to ride 4K!

A look at the steep winding road from the steepest corner.

Across the harbour is the village of Lyttleton. My ride will take me thru there on my way to the other side of those far hills - where I live.

I was probably riding 2mph on this corner!

Sunset at Tama Terrace.

This is what a gale force nor'wester looks like.

The yacht club got caught off-guard and most capsized. Good thing the estuary is only a few feet deep. ;-)

And a gale force nor'wester as a crosswind.

Not so nice to try ride a bike through this. I had to get off and still darn near got blown over.

Christmas Eve "adventure" ride to Akaroa with Mel and Tanya.
