Art for Critters
Art for Critters
My entire life I have been an artist. I think perhaps I was born with a brush in my hand. My Mom used to tell me that I would draw my own pictures to colour in, instead of using the store bought colouring books. And even then, I would stay within the lines better than she. I am also an animal lover - horses and dogs especially. One of my earliest drawings is of a horse. I was just four years old. That drawing is still in a trunk at my Mom's house.
Being that I have both a love and a talent for art and animals, it was only fitting that I found myself on yet another new path in life. This time it is my art leading my places. As I returned to my artwork, I found an outlet through eBay to sell it. This in turn has led to exposure. Previously, the majority of my works have pretty much remained in my closet, or in the private collections of those who have commissioned me in the past.
I was recently nominated and accepted to join a non-profit organization, Art for Critters, whose artist members donate portions of their art sales to animal charities throughout the world. The artists representing this organization are amazing and many are nationally acclaimed award winners. These are my peers, and to have my works juried and accepted by them is truly a great honour.
As a new member, I listed my first auction for charity on ebay this week. It is a small format graphite pencil drawing of a Spanish stallion. Fifty percent of the proceeds from this auction will go to the Palmetto Equine Awareness & Rescue League (PEARL). This organization is located in South Carolina and provides not only horse rescue, rehabilitation and shelter, but also a horse food bank.
They are many more charities Art for Critters supports and for whom I will be donating proceeds from many of my auctions towards. There are also a couple rescues here in Colorado I am working on getting into our organization.
If you're interested in checking out my art on ebay, search the user ID name "wchase66". If you'd like to help the Art for Critters artists help the animals, search "A4C" on ebay as well as on Art by Us.
